Repair Your Skin From Winter Damage
This winter weather was quite brutal. Those dry, cold conditions really took a toll on our beauty and style. Lucky for us, beauty expert Grace Gold chatted with me about her top picks and savvy beauty advice to rejuvenate and brighten your look.
It's great to talk to you today, Grace.
Thanks so much for having me.
Absolutely. And let's jump right into it so tell us your favorite tip to help us rejuvenate and repair our beauty routine from that harsh winter?
Well, you want to take care of those lips. The winter was consider chapped lip season and it's a huge issue for just about everyone. So you want to invest in a really good lip balm all year long especially now as you are repairing from the winter damage. You want to look for something that protects and soothes and moisturizes. This is the hallmark of a really great lip balm because your lips are the most sensitive area on your body with very thin skin.
One of my favorites is Carmex with their hardworking formula and some of the best ingredients. In the winter it would help block out that harsh, icy air and then now it will keep your lips feeling healthy and moisturized. Also sun rays can contribute to cracked lips and Carmex makes this click strips which have SPF 15 in them to give long-lasting relief for cracked lips. They've been around for a long time and have provided a very reliable and tested formula. I also love the Salicylic acid in it because it helps exfoliates those flakes that so many of us have had an issue with. It comes in your choice of a stick, pot, or tube. Its great to keep with you to have those soft, fresh lips.
Sounds great. Now what tip do you have for us on updating that winter look and try to spice things up a little bit?
Well New York Fashion Week gave us a lot of great inspiration. And to get any of those trends from the runway, it's best to use the makeup brushes they are using. That makes a big difference on how you apply the product. I have with me Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection which are premium, innovative brushes. They give that flawless, high-definition look straight off the runway. You can even check out some new inspiration and tutorials at www.realtechniques.com to see how to use the brushes properly. I love the collection because the bristles are really soft and really picks up and deposits color well.
A fun tip is with their most popular #301 contour brushes which we see on the runways now. Contouring is where you use a shade darker than your skin tone to really get in up underneath your cheekbone. It helps pop that look and can really wake up your look with the makeup you're using. You can find these brushes at Ulta Beauty stores. And for a little helpful tip, the handles tell you where to use the brushes. The rose gold are your finishing brushes, the gold are your base brushes, and the silver are for your eye makeup. Of course there are no rules of beauty and you can use them however you like. This is just to help you out a little bit.
And the help is always needed. Now we hear a lot about skincare and cosmetics, is there anything out there that bridges the gap between the two?
Yes!! There's this great new product called Roc Smooth Protection Instant Line Corrector. It's really great because that dry winter air really exacerbated those fine lines and wrinkles. This is a lightweight product that does bridge the gap between skincare and cosmetics in one step. It immediately smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and helps with firmness. In two weeks you will start seeing results and then you can start using less makeup. Maybe even forgo the foundation entirely. It has copper-zinc technology that uses the science of bio-electricity to help with skin cell turnover to give you healthy and smooth looking skin which we all love.
Absolutely. These are all wonderful ideas, Grace. Where can we go get some more information?
