Star Magazine Beauty Awards

You can say this is beauty awards season. In the last post we went over some of the winners of the Healthy Beauty Awards with SELF Magazine, this time we are focusing on those beauty tools that can help get you looking and feeling comfortable and confident.

We all have those areas that we want to pay particular attention to, whether it has to do with a body part like your arms or your skin or hair. The problem we face is that there are so many products on the market and we don't want to waste money on something that promises to give results and doesn't.

So STAR Magazine took away the guess work for you. A panel of testers at STAR Magazine went through a number of products that are celebrity-endorsed and found the ones that will be perfect for your everyday use. These are products that are constantly used at glamorous events like the red carpet when all eyes are upon you.

To help bring you some of the winners of the STAR Magazine Beauty Awards, I chatted with their Beauty and Fashion Director, Cheryl Kramer Kaye. For a full list of the winners, you can check out www.starmagazine.com.

  • Simple Nourishing 24-Hour Day/Night Cream. This won for the new go-to moisturizer. First, every woman needs to have a moisturizer in their daily routine. This one was a favorite because it's kind to skin and has no harsh chemicals or dyes. It will deeply nourish without feeling greasy. It can be found for $11 at drugstores, and for more information you can check out www.simpleskincare.com.

  • Simple Skincare did a survey of women in the top U.S. cities and found that about 28% of women do not apply moisturizer before applying makeup (shocking, I know). Most women are afraid that a greasy moisturizer will cause their makeup to just slip off.

  • Caress Emerald Rush Body Wash. It has a fresh and revitalizing scent that was actually developed by one of the top fragrance houses. The scent features a little bit of lush gardenia and some white tea essence. It gives that luxurious, expensive smell for only $3.50 at drugstores. For more information, check out Caress' Facebook page.

  • Pout-o-Matic. It's a sugar lip scrub paired with a rotating massage tool to help give your lips a gentle exfoliation and leave them super soft. The cost is $52, and more information is on www.blissworld.com.

  • Backroll Slim Arm Candy from Bliss. That unsightly underarm can be a little less noticeable with this arm perfecting cream. It has a massaging applicator that infuses lactic acid, caffeine cream into your arms to get them bump free and buff. This is ideal for those sleeveless shirts and dresses your wearing this season. The cost is $38 and more information is on www.blissworld.com.

  • NOTE: this doesn't replace your regular diet and fitness regimen.

  • 40% Triple Acid Peel from Peter Thomas Roth. This is a professional-grade, self-utilizing peel that goes to work on those wrinkles, enlarged pores, and that uneven skintone. Cheryl said she saw a difference after just one peel, so with the 12 weekly treatments you should see a major result reduction. This can be found for $88 at Sephora.

  • Volumizing Spray from Sally Herschberger. This is a combination product of dry shampoo, moisturizer, and hairspray. All you have to do is spray it onto dry hair for an instant look with lots of body. The spray contains caffeine to give your hair a jolt of energy similar to the way your body responds when you drink coffee. This can be found at CVS for $13.

So these are just some of the winners in the STAR Magazine Beauty Awards to help you look and feel comfortable and confident from season to season. For the rest of the winners, check out the STAR Magazine website at www.starmagazine.com.
